Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the Performance Tools needle nose pliers. These are handy for all kinds of uses around the shop or around the home, to make sure that you can either get something kind of smaller wrapped up around that needle nose, or just get access into an area that's kind of hard to get to. It does also have a cutting surface in the center there near the fulcrum that'll allow you to cut wire or anything else, and there's also a secondary gripping surface on the other side of that fulcrum as well, so it should be good for a lot of different tools. The handle is pretty comfortable, it's got these kind of rubbery grips to it, so it should be able to be fairly comfortable in your hand over time as you're using these guys. It's a little bit rounded, so it doesn't have a lot of indexing, but it should be fairly useful to have at home, whether you want to have a second pair, or just get ones that maybe are replacing some old ones that got worn out. They are made of a drop forged and chrome vanadium steel, so it's going to give you long-lasting durability, and the cutting edges are also induction hardened and precision sharpened, so they should last for a long time. Our grips are molded, so they're going to give you again, a fairly comfortable hold there. I have a zip tie just to show how well it's going to cut with that little cutting surface.
A lot of times, you're going to be using this for wires, but around the shop too, cutting off the end of a zip tie is a pretty common way, and kind of a good way to see how well it cuts into stuff. So it seems to be doing pretty well, it's pretty sharp. This is kind of a thicker zip tie, so it doesn't seem to have any trouble getting through that material at all. And as I mentioned, there is a secondary gripping surface here, towards the handle from that fulcrum, so it kind of gives you a second place to grip onto something, and pull it out or anything else. The end there, again, kind of rounded off, so you can wrap wire around that if you need to, if you're doing any kind of metalworking, or maybe you're making some jewelry or something like that. That's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the needle nose pliers from Performance Tools. As far as the lengths, I'll give you a quick measurement here.
It's about 8" from the tip to handle, and the width, when closed, is about 2 1/2". We do have a lot of other tools available here at etrailer.com from Performance Tools, so if you need anything else to add to your shop arsenal, you've got a lot of options here, and we have all kinds of other stuff for your vehicles, RVs and boats, so check them out. Thanks for watching.
